Wow, what a snoozer! Wake me up with five minutes to go and save myself some time. There didn't seem to be much there as far as Easter eggs go. If you have any thoughts, go ahead and leave 'em.
I'm a fourth year seminary student attempting to balance life, youth ministry, and academics along with preparing to have a child. This is about being in the world but not of the world. I'll talk about everything from the Word of God, my wife, recent books, the Red Sox, Lost, my ministry, interesting insights into our culture, and anything else that runs across my plate.

yes, it was boring...phil did sleep through it. I think I can give him a quick overview of the show. But, the last few minutes were great. Can you believe that it is Charlie that is going to die? How sad, what will Claire do? Desmond is a little spooky...I am not sure what he is supposed to be but I am not too sure if I like his character. What is it really adding to the show?
The best part was...when your mom called me just a few minutes after the show screaming into the phone...:) I think that was the best part. (But please don't do it every week!)
yeah, leah kept falling asleep, too.
Here's the big debate with this episode. The Desmond flashbacks were not so much flashbacks like normal, but his past flashing back before him. he didn't actually experience those things, they were more like a dream.
what this leaves us with is this: was everything that grey haired lady was saying true? if she was just a creation of Desmond's flashback, which I think she was, then her words may not be authoritative.
So will Charlie die? I'm not sure. will he be able to redeem himself like the show has been all about and then that will satisfy the 'universe's demands'?
OK I watched it during a few feedings of the baby and the last half all at once- it was so hard to watch! Penny's dad trashing his ego- OUCH! The tragic love story, not knowing if it was real or not! I can't believe you guys thought it was boring! The lady at the jewelry store was SO FREAKY. The part where Desmonds breaks up with Penny.... tears in my eyes! Claire with bangs- made me laugh- ah ha ha. A few shots of Aaron- wonderful- I had to go back again and look at the fat baby!!!
So what if this is like the Matrix- and they are "plugged in" but not really on the island. Do you think he really went back and lived that or was it a dream? If he still is having flashes he seems to be above time!
Hello- this was a great episode! It didn't have Kate screaming and running around the jungle with wet hair... which is actually nice because I'm a little sick of Kate screaming.
I think this was an episode females can enjoy. Leah slept because she's pregnant and probably couldn't stay awake for the Red Sox world series at this point.
Ok...last week I was going to mention something about "time", but thought I had made enough comments for one week.
I read that last summer in an interview with the producers, one of them said to not assume that the island time is on our time, and the other producer abruptly changed the subject.
THEN last week the guy who was guarding Carl was reading Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time". Now I know next to nothing about Physics, but... it's possible something happened when the electromagnetic charge was discharged and the hatch imploded - time shifted - putting them into a tesseract/4th dimension? That would mean they are now in a different time/space, which is why "The Others" have lost communication with the outside world.
The electromagnetic anomaly on the island could have been originally used by Dharma in an attempt to amplify time and move people along the lines of a tesseract - just like Ian was getting at with the Philadelphia Experiment, which involved making a ship invisible to radar by using a magnetic field - this COULD be what has been hiding the island all this time.
Then there was that massive electromagnetic discharge (when the sky turned purple), maybe throwing them into another time and space, one which could be moving at a different pace than real time.
Having been thinking about that all week made THIS week's episode NOT boring to me! Think about this possibility as you rethink the episode...
[There was an earlier electromagnetic discharge when the plane crashed. Some of their experiences on the island (seeing things) COULD be part of shifts in time and space, for at least brief periods. Desmond, because the discharge was so great, shifted OFF the island and into the past. But his experience was similar to Kate seeing the horse, Jack seeing his Dad, etc. The earlier discharge wasn't enough to shift THEM off the island, but WAS enough to shift things from their past THERE, at least temporarily. Their plane could have been caught up in that earlier shift, which is why it crashed. [think Bermuda Triangle]
What do you think? I'm sure some of you know a lot more about this than my pitiful attempt at explaining it!
beth- clearly from your hearing your dreams you exactly aren't the poster child for emotional steadiness. It isn't a surprise that you'd cry about something like that.
And don't insult Leah like that. She'd be awake if the Sox were in the playoffs.
Mom- Yeah, I don't know if I'd been talking about the time stuff on this blog or just the message board that I frequent. But there are all kinds of hints that speak to the fact that time on the island isn't the same as time in the normal world. Not only Aldo's book, but Aldo's name, too. I forget what it means, but it supports the view.
I still don't think that Desmond actually went anywhere, but just went back in his mind.
anyways, if I wanted a love story I'd tune in for "Men in Trees" or "About Brian".
Tim, are you going to start posting about "Men in Trees" and "What about Brian"...I would be a little concerned if you did!
Hey...you posted Jen's comment and none of mine! I left a comment here and one concerning Bruce Metzger. Have I been "edited" out?
Tell me about Aldo.
Doug, just be thankful that she didn't call you screaming ok "very excited" just after the show...you know how late that is and you always go into that panic mode when the phone rings that late! :)
Now get off the computer and get all caught up so that you can comment here with us on the "new" season!
T why don't you have our new blog listed?? hmmm....
Jen- I honestly didn't even know you had one until yesterday. I don't know how I didn't find out, but be sure that it will be up soon. as soon as I get a chance.
