LOST: Extra Info

I know...feast or famine. But I just read an article about LOST with some info you may find interesting. Apparently Entertainment Weekly magazine printed a picture of the map that was exposed by the black light when Locke had his leg caught under the blast door. They say it showed 6 stations (I TOLD you the number 6 was in those hieroglyphs - Btw, I saw a link to another translation and I honestly don't know how they came up with their conclusion of what it said...they also didn't read them from right to left (though the shows writers' may not know that's how it's done)] Four of the stations were marked: Swan, Arrow (where the tailees landed, I think), Staff (the medical bunker) and a 4th called "Flame". It also showed an octagonal layout of the island - which may or may not have significance. There were scribbled comments on the map, too. One mentioned an "incident" in 1985 inoloving "AH/MDG" [probably "Alvar Hanso" (who IS he?) and "Magnus" somebody].

Another scribbling talked about shutdowns of the "Dharmatel Intranet" and puzzling "sightings" that are "minimal during lockdown and restocking procedures". Sightings of the smoke?

The article also commented on "Henry's" mention of something sounding like a "big magnet" and Marvin Candle's basic description of the Swan station in the orientation film, that it was designed for research into "unique electromagnetic fluctuations emanating from this sector of the island". When you figure out everyone who has been "sucked into" the place [Flight 815, the drug smugglers' plane, the real Henry's balloon, Danielle Rousseau's ship], it does sound interesting.

It also said the Dharma film talked about Gerald and Karen DeGroot's efforts to build "a large-scale communal research compound" to study, among other things, psychology and parapsychology. (The article speculated that the "Sea Captain" among "the others" is Gerald DeGroot.) How did I miss all this about the DeGroots? I don't remember hearing anything about them! I must have missed a few crucial episodes!

"AH/MDG Incident"

Possibly Alvar Hanso/Some name starting with M DeGroot?

Hanso's compnay was funding the Dharma project, so maybe something went sour, as it often does in bussiness relationships, that ended the project. Maybe the Others are DeGroot and his followers that are continuing the project in spite of Hanso. Maybe some of the things on the island, like the virus and the smoke, are Hanso Foundation inventions to try to clear the island of the DeGroots, which is why the smoke doesn't hasn't really hurt any of the lostees. Maybe...

Or maybe not.

Ian,
Do you remember any reference to "Magnus"? Is he the "he" everyone is afraid of? I don't remember hearing the name before, but the article mentioned it. Gerald DeGroot doesn't fit, but it would if he's "Magnus" DeGroot.

Thanks for the refresher on Hanso. Was this in an episode or did you get it off of one of the LOST official sites (as extra info)?

The map on the door has a note on it that says something like "Black Rock, final resting place of Magnus Hanso". This would seem to indicate that whoever he is, he's dead. I think Magnus is either the name of someone related to Alvar Hanso (I would guess either father or son, based on themes throughout the show), or possibly a title (Maybe given to Alvar himself?). I did notice something in tonight's episode along these lines, but I will save that for the conversation to come.

All the Alvar Hanso stuff was on the training film they found in the hatch. It does also appear on the Hanso Foundation web site.

Do you remember when they found the bunker that Sayid said as he was digging and trying to find out about the bunker that he thought it was a big magnet! Never thought of it as "pulling" things to the island but, I guess that could happen. But why does nothing metal go toward the center of the island? (or at least the bunkers?) maybe "real"the magnet is at he top of the mountain. Remember when they climbed the mountain Sayid mentioned a large magnet messing up the compass.

What about Rose???? she remembered Locke, and that was the first mention of it. She knows and she doesn't want off the island.

Back to my theory of hospitals or medical stuff...she has had cancer so she would have been in some sort of medical care. hospital/clinic. What about Bernard...a dentist. hmm....
things are certainly not what they appear to be. John seems much "better" after stretching his legs. (maybe it was his talk with Rose) I think that he will figure out the map and then let everyone know about it. Then next season they will be in search of all the bunkers! :)

Michael...wow! Did anyone see that coming? I thought he was dead when he first stumbled upon them. is he now under the power of the "others" Or has he really found them. I thought it odd that they were willing to trade Henry for Walt and Michael showed up. Anyone else think that was odd?

OK...I am going to do a little research on the mentioned names, (after I work on my Bible Study of course)

More later...
