Lost- The Tailees' Episode

Before I get into this discussion, I don't want this to end the discussion on the last topic. Keep it going!

Last night there were not enough guys to play basketball, so I got home in time to watch the episode in its entirety. Here's some of the observations I saw:

the kids are apparently still alive. the guy said they were still alive and that they were better off where they were. It seems like the people are after kids. They wanted Claire's baby, took the French Lady's baby, took the two kids, and someone took Walt. Was it the 'others' that took Walt? Was it the boy that was carrying the teddy bear in the jungle?

Where did the army knife come from? Did all that stuff not happen to the original crew because there was only one kid? Were the others scared of that monster that was near the original group because that thing wasn't near the others. What's the deal with the quarenteen? We saw it again last night. Its on the inside, so they're protecting from something on the outside. And the guy that was in the hatch was injecting himself on a daily basis and took a bunch with him before he ran out. Is there something on the island that turns you into the others? They have to be taking the kids for a reason, and its maybe to integrate them into whatever they are.

what are your thoughts?

another thing i remembered. remember that the hatch was full of guns and he was incredibly wary of kate, who is no apparent threat. I bet he had a run in with 'the others' before and that is why he was armed to the t and was so scared about Kate and Locke.

I guess I will be missing Lost- Bible study is Wed night. It was so fantastic. This is the first week that the pastor taught- he usually teaches. He had so many insights and I was actually being taught! It was so so awesome. We are going through I John- at first I wasn't too thrilled about I John, but I'm already learning so much. We went over warnings against the Antichrist and the antichrists that are already among us. We had a great discussion on what an antichrist could be. The people are great too- I already feel like they are becoming family!

Beth I am so glad that you are enjoying your Bible study! Great to hear that you are feeling part of that church.

OK...What is up with hot lips? What was she before? a detective? a cop? Did you hear how she talked Benard out of the tree? and how she got the knife from that guy, she knows her stuff.
Oh, and the guy that she had in the trap (ethan?) He was on the other side of the island rememer him from last season? he is the one that took Claires baby they killed him so what happened to him last night?Back to Anna aka hot lips(I think they took my names!)She knows more than what everyone thinks (street smarts) ...how brilliant she was to see that he was not wet 10 minutes after the plane crashed and he came out of the jungle. so when do you think we will see her past?
she knew that he was up to no good when they woke up in the morning, she was on to him. Did anyone else catch that?
The kids...are they in another hatch somewhere? remember that warning that Claire was given before she left australia? HOW did they get a list of the people that were left? this is getting really strange! don't you think...

that wasn't ethan. the guy that she put in the hole wasn't one of the 'others'. and he isn't the same guy anyways.
yeah, I caught that she was suspecting him for awhile. just the way that she looked at him and playing over how he acted on the beach when they first landed.

i don't think that the hatches and 'the others' are related. i think they are two separate things.

Goodwin apparently made the list and gave it to the people, but I don't know what good names would have been. wouldn't descriptions have gone further unless they knew the people before hand. there was some sense, especially with Claire, that they were supposed to crash there on that island. where did Goodwin come up with the whole Peace Corps thing?

what's with the glass eye in that box? i think it was a bunk box belonging to whoever lived there before. but where was everything else that would belong in that hatch?

apparently, last season Claire read off a list of everyone that died and Goodwin was a name she read. I think the others knew who the people in the plane were before they crashed. They were SUPPOSED to crash there!

Oooh..good! So you think the "others" is a different group than the people who who grabbed the tail people? I definitely got the idea they were military people (and I think Hotlips is military or maybe a cop - one who talks suicide attempts of ledges type). And they were able to be killed. The only fly in the ointment is that teddy-bear. Either the teddy-bear is separated from the children or the children are with the military people, who would then have to be the "others".

I've been waiting for someone to mention that the tracker guy from the tail people is a Christian. That was pretty obvious. I just wasn't sure if his not talking was a Roman Catholic penance for killing someone, or a reversion to tribal practice. He seemed happy to find the Bible. Was the eye just a red herring or will it be significant? I don't know these writers well enough. With Chris Carter you knew his style - his completely dropping seemingly important clues, changing story lines and having the same actor turn up as different characters.

Yeah, I think that Echo is a Christian, I did pick up on that last night 40 days... Why would he state that if it wasn't for "religious" reasons.
So, Ethan is a different guy? OK I buy it so "ethan" from last season must have taken over his place on the plane to trick the group at the beach. what should we call them? Jacks group and hot lips group? or beachers and junglers? ok, just a random thought!

Still thinking of different books for the list :)

no, i'm saying that the hatch people are different from 'the others'. i'm not saying the people who took the tailees are different from 'the others'. they are the 'others'.

yes, they are portraying him as a Christian. I think he may be a Christian with battles about worshipping a God but knowing He allowed you to go through something like this and is allowing things to happen to seemingly innocent people.

one thing that my friends pointed out was that Jack was the doctor who chose not to operate on the victim of the crash, which was Shannon's father. Remember there was a crash and there were two bad victims and he had to chose which one to take and he took the victim? In the flashback for Shannon, it was Jack walking through in the background to tell you that he was the doctor that let her father die. thought that was interesting.

yeah, I saw the Jack run behind the doctor as he walked up the shannon and her mom. I think that somehow everyone on the island is involved in each others lives somehow. interesting very interesting!!

Aren't there more and more cases where the people in the crash knew eachother years before the crash? The crash wasn't random, nor was the people that got on the plane random.

I completely missed Jack being in the background of the scene with Shannon's father! At Sam's Club I found the 1st season on DVD, but it was around $35-$40. While I would not have thought twice a year ago, with the current income changes I actually said no. (That was an experience!) I'll see if Derry Library has it. If they are going to show all these subtle things, like people in the background, I may have to break down so I can take a closer look at things.

Did you catch the traitor's answer to Hotlips about why they chose who they did? "Because they were the good people." Hmmm. And why did they NOT take one of the "tailee" women on the beach, but apparently DID take her in the jungle at the time Shannon was shot?

Did anyone see "Good Morning America" to see the "missing scene"? I refuse to watch daytime TV...but am willing for someone else to lower their standards and tell me about it. ;)

Every one seems to have some sort of tie with Jack. His Dad was in the bar with Sawyer, the night he died. Wasn't Boone at the police station the night that Jack was there checking on his Dad? Shannon at the hospital, and the guy from the hatch while running. I wonder what happened to his wife and if Jack was involved in anyone else's life! Anyone else notice that stuff.

And, I think I know what you can get your Mom for Christmas! ;) OR maybe her SS class...haha

Beth,
I'll tape it for you. Bible study is certainly more important (if you feel up to it), but if you have a Mom with blank tapes...you're all set. [I already have Masterpiece Theater's "Kidnapped" and "Elizabeth I: The Virgin Queen" for you. Both were super good!] (It was interesting that they used some of the same music in "Elizabeth" that they used in "Last of the Mohicans". I found myself responding emotionally and I couldn't figure out why at first. Isn't it amazing how music hardwires an emotional memory into us?)

Hey, what about last nights episode? I missed the first 15 min. I think I missed some crucial stuff. I am going to get the tape from my Mom, (yeah, they watch it too) and watch the show again! SO...I am not writing anything until I watch the WHOLE thing! Happy Thanksgiving!!
