We'll be watching the episode tonight, until then, talk away!
I'm a fourth year seminary student attempting to balance life, youth ministry, and academics along with preparing to have a child. This is about being in the world but not of the world. I'll talk about everything from the Word of God, my wife, recent books, the Red Sox, Lost, my ministry, interesting insights into our culture, and anything else that runs across my plate.

Well, apparently whatever happened in the hatch has either caused Locke, Eko, and Desmond to be able to see the future, or brought them there and back again. Considering the whole electro-magnetic aspect causes me to rethink all the "Philadelphia Experiment" theories.
And Locke...who woulda' thunk he was a stoner?
Just some initial observations. More later.
Did you notice who was sitting at the head of the table for the "family" dinner.
It didn't show why he was in a wheelchair though! did it have to do with something at the "farm"?
Hurley didn't make any sense in the show last night. Almost like he just needed lines so they threw some in. Did I miss something?
Desmond is just weird! did he ever put pants on? or just keep the shirt?
And they are bringing more people on the show at the beach...or were they just fillers last night?
I must say that was not one of my favorite episodes...didn't really tell much.
Next week looks interesting!
Oh, what was that wolf supposed to be when Locke was coming out of his tent? that was spooky!
Are they going to find another hatch to live in? they know where one is. Or are they going to stay right there on the beach?
ok...that is all for now! must see it again I am sure I missed some big things and that is why I thought is was a little weird last night!
Later...
"Druggy" Locke - Apparently drugs are OK for "religious purposes". I don't blame Charlie for pointing out Locke's inconsistency!
What was that unidentified animal killed by the polar bear?
"Valley of Bones"- Did you see the Pearl Station Dharma logo on the clothing of one of those skeletons? It looked like a child's skeleton was there, too. That looked like a lot of people to me! And what was with the Tonka truck? Is the Polar Bear one of the "bears" from Sawyer's cage?
Airport scene - Locke's psyche or reality? Claire, Charlie & the baby as a family; Jack, Kate & Sawyer being wanded by Benry ("Arrest" written on the wand.); Desmond (pilot?) followed by stewardesses. No Mr. Eko.
Desmond's prophetic skills - due to the implosion or did he have it before? Remember in the stadium scene he told Jack the woman would be OK? Desmond looks a tad rattled.
Imploded Hatch - three tunnels are now visible. Will they follow them? According to the blacklight map, the tunnels lead to "The Flame", "?" in the middle and "C3?".
On Eko's stick: "Lift up your eyes and look North." "John 3:05" (What does THAT mean?) "Rom.6:12", "Gen.13:14" and "Acts 7:12".
What could these verses mean from a LOST POV? [which means..."out of context"] ;)
Rom. 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions.
Gen. 13:14 The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, "Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,
Acts 7:12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers on their first visit.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."
The engraved quote ["Lift up your eyes and look North."] is part of Gen.13:14. According to the blacklight map, the "?" in the center is North of their imploded hatch...and now they may have access to the tunnel leading there.
Jen,
Who was at the head of the table? I don't think we've seen those actors before, have we? I thought it was interesting how all their kumbiyah friendliness headed south when their illegal pot-growing industry was compromised! What happened to "We're a family."?
Observation: Locke is gullible. (Am I the last one to realize this?) It was nice to see the old Locke back again, though. And it looks like he may be the one to rescue Jack, Kate and Sawyer from the Others.
Next week: WHY would the Others CARE if Kate loved Sawyer? And I'm sure she meant "I love him." in the sense that "He's like a brother to me...." ;)
I don't think that was a wolf that Locke saw as he left the tent, I'm pretty sure it was the polar bear that he would later torch in the cave (that's why it was shown amidst the flames). That and Desmond's comment to Hurley about Locke's speech showed that the two of them (Desomd and Locke) both have some insight into the future. I think Eko's comments to Locke about finding Jack, Kate, and Sawyer showed the same thing. The island now has its own group of prophets.
I'll have to go back and look again, but I didn't notice who was at the head of the table. Was it someone we should know? I thought the head pot-guy looked really familiar, though.
I'll have to look up those verses on Eko's stick and connect some dots...
In case you haven't seen the "Bonus Disc" that comes with Season 2 DVDs, there were two things I found interesting to think about:
Connections:
In 1929 a Hungarian named Karinthy postulated the "Theory of Centrality", known today as "Six Degrees of Separation". He postulated that everyone on the planet is somehow connected to someone else, within 5 people.
[5+you=6] Are the encounters of strangers mere coincidence/fate...
OR could they somehow fit into a larger picture that has yet to come into focus? It then states that it all begins with one person...and then shows a picture of Jack.
The Hatch:
One of the producers said they tried to show that the Hatch brought out the worst in people. It was like making a deal with the devil [some underground symbolism here] - you get what you want, but not in the way you thought it would happen. He also pointed out how Locke became a button pusher in a cubicle - just what he was, and hated being, before he took the trip to Australia.
I am not sure who he was but, he is tied in somehow...whether from someone else's flashback or the island. I am not sure maybe just another show BUT this is all we watch so...I think it is from LOST.
hmmm...is he the guy that was in the hatch with Desmond that brought him there? I really can't remember I am getting too old short term memory is failing me! UGH!
I did a little research about the actor at the head of the table at the commune - It was Chris Mulkey, who was in "Twin Peaks". Now, Jen...if you caught THAT I bow to your amazing ability to recognize characters! I seem to be loosing that ability as I age - EXCEPT... Hey Beth, I was just watching an episode of "Inspector Lynley" [BBC's Mystery] and I recognized the actor who played the young geeky law clerk in "Bleak House"! He doesn't look quite as geeky as he did in Bleak House. [But then you recognized Anna Maxwell Martin from "Bleak House" in that episode of "Doctor Who"...which just proves my theory that Great Britain has a total of 100 actors who play the roles in ALL BBC productions. ;)]
OK, Twin Peaks...wow, what a memory I have but I really think that he is also from Lost somehow somewhere...really!! I am going to cram and watch the second season before tomorrow night! and find out where he is from!
not many comments on this episode, was everyone else dissappointed with this one too?
Yeah, this episode was originally supposed to air as the second episode, but I think they knew they needed to have a little more action like last week before this week's. It didn't really raise too many questions other than desmond's apparent ability to look into the future.
I'd like them to explore the remains of the hatch. there's gotta be something there.
the episode was a little disappointing and I can see why they moved it to third rather than the second episode.
