I'm a fourth year seminary student attempting to balance life, youth ministry, and academics along with preparing to have a child. This is about being in the world but not of the world. I'll talk about everything from the Word of God, my wife, recent books, the Red Sox, Lost, my ministry, interesting insights into our culture, and anything else that runs across my plate.

What a bummer! Libby dies and she never even got a backstory! (Although, one can apparently continue to have cameo roles in dream sequences...as long as you don't mind appearing in garish makeup with blood bubbling out of your mouth.) Will they EVER tell us about Libby? Maybe through another Hurley backstory? And is this part of Hurley's bad luck?
How long do you suppose it will take for Jack to start thinking about Libby's last word? If Michael continues handing out those wicked, "un-Michaelish" looks you'd think SOMEONE would catch on! We've lost the "Henry" looks, but now we've got the Michael looks!
So who recognized Claire's psychic at first glance? Not I...sigh. I obviously need VERBAL clues. Fortunately they gave one. When he was counseling pregnant Claire he seemed really frightened, remember? Maybe for the first time he actually had a REAL premonition, and it frightened him.
It looks like Jen is right about the faith thing with Eko and Locke. Locke has lost his faith, but Eko will bring him back. I thought it was intriguing that now that they have decided it's so important to punch in the code, they weren't back yet and the alarm was beeping, while everyone in the hatch ignored it in their grief. [Arghhh, Jack...why didn't YOU think of comforting Kate, rather than having angst over not being able to save Libby?! It's not all about you!!]
Did anyone go to the website given out on the Hanso commercial? I'll have to go back over the tape and see what it was.
oh...I also thought it was interesting that they have been together long enough to really grieve for each other. I mean, they "felt bad" about Boone and Shannon, but now they are really getting attached to one another. That is what is so upsetting about Michael's turn around. They LIKE Michael and trust him. They can't imagine him being a danger to them.
I found a list of the flash sequences in Eko's dream, just before he saw Yemi at the computer in the hatch:
-dead body floating in ocean
-crucifix necklace on ground
-scene with the Other who had the teddy
bear on a rope
-A campfire
-Jin blindfolded
-statues of Mary on table
-drug plane when Eko/Charlie burned it
-Yemi in a church
-The Arrow Dharma symbol on a wall
-Bible
-Eko's staff
-Eko looking at Yemi's corpse
-closeup of Locke's face
-Eko looking through black mist
-crucifix on Yemi's dead body
-plane Yemi was on, taking off
-truckof soldiers chasing the plane
-Yemi getting shot
-Asian Dharma guy from 1st video
-Swan Dharma symbol on a wall
Here's a theory - some of those images are the same as seen in the black mist when it communed with Eko ("the 23rd Psalm". Jack, Eko, Locke, Charlie, Kate and Hurley have had contact with that mist, which Danielle called the island's "security system". Jack, Kate and Hurley subsequently "saw" things, that really did have substance. Eko, Locke and Charlie had "dreams". What if the black mist reads their minds and uses their memories to form images, which may or may not be true? Eko is certainly on board now! What if the mist just makes them THINK something is important, something beneficial to the island? Now, what if the black mist could also "read" a person and discover if they were "good", thus able to stay on the island, or "bad", thus disposed of?
It also occurred to me that maybe Michael's change of behavior doesn't have anything to do with the Others, but everything to do with the Black Mist? What if he has an alternate reality in his brain he has been convinced of? The black mist has been quite absent lately, have you noticed?
A Second possibility with Michael - what if he just shot everyone to make sure they would go to war against the others? What if he wasn't really trying to save "Henry" (Jen noticed he looked surprised to hear they had one of the Others imprisoned) just to create a reason that would make everyone willing to go after the Others?
BUT...did you see the previews for next week??? He said something about Walt and the lady told him that he was outside. So...they did get to him, they didn't brainwash him but he is working with them to get Walt back. (playing into their hands)
Libby...did anyone else JUMP when she spit up the blood while she was lying on the floor? I did! And I thought that was going to happen too. I hope that Jack replays the horror in her face when she said "Michael" if he thinks about it much he will see it. (maybe)
KATE/SAWYER...NOOOO!!!! It can't happen! sneaky where he has had the guns all along! right under him! I was trying to look for clues all along but, I never could keep my eyes on the background, I need to learn to do that.
Locke...he knows that they are busted! He let that paper get sucked right up the tube! WHO IS UP THERE? and where did it go? Ecko has no clue that he did it! Who is going to come and get them now?
OK...more later, gotta get the kids to bed, late soft ball game (sorry for not telling you earlier)
Did you notice that Eko took the printouts from Pearl station, that appear to show WHEN the number sequences were entered in Swan Station. If they look at them they will see Michael's communication, supposedly with Walt, AND whether or not "Henry" really did enter the sequence.
The video made it appear that entering the numbers is just a psych experiment, though the people in the station are led to believe "it's important". Locke got it, but Eko didn't. He has been affected by dreams of his brother. Are they real or are they the black mist manipulating him by using his own memories. [And why was the black mist so eager to chomp up the pilot from the plane in the first episode? Was he a "bad person"? It hasn't chomped anyone else.]
we got to watch the episode earlier than normal. if you look at the series of pictures from next week's show, you see that Michael gets injected with something. there were flashbacks with the others.
it was good to see Locke get his desire to figure things out back.
we watched the section on Eko's flashes and the one with his staff had names of books of the bible on it.
i did recognize the psychic and was reminded of the witch at endor when she really saw Samuel.
Eko was not a good priest when he was in Australia. His brother came to the girl and told him he could be and it was in him. So did he just reach total fervency when he crashed on the island?
more later. gotta go.
I slept through most of it (I'm not itchy prior to 10 pm). Mom could you bring the tape up with you on Sunday?
HEY..it's mothers day and you are making your mom come up to you?? shouldn't you be coming down? :)
I am not too sure about this whole posting thing lately! I think I write things and go back and I dont' see them either 1 someone is deleting them or 2 I am really not hitting the login and publish button! hmmm....
I think that Locke is really regretting sending that paper up the tube! what do you think about that one? If there are other people still watching them on the island then they know right where the two of them are!
Weird how Ecko had the vision of Hot Lips and he didn't even know that she was dead. He didn't find that out until he went into the hatch for Locke! hmm...how are they gettin ginto their heads? It is some medical thing. were they all injected with something in different parts of the world knowing that they would all wind up on the island together?!
Or are their interrelated memories false ones? That seems kind of unlikely. For Sawyer to have a memory of Jack's Dad, he would have to have Jack's memories implanted into his head. And there are references that the characters never even notice, only we do. (like Jack's Dad hitting Sawyer with the car door outside of the bar as he was leaving Anna Lucia) Hey, I wonder if Jack's Dad was supposed to be on the plane (alive), but drank himself to death. Or maybe Ian has something about Jack's Dad being behind this somehow. Too many people have had an encounter with him. Is HE the glue that sticks everyone together?
Jen, I've noticed that the letters for confirmation are missing the first time you try to post. After you click to post, look to make sure it DID indeed post. You may have to enter the next set of letters.
Oh...and I am hooked onto another weekly show. Sat. nights at 9 PM on SciFi are NEW episodes of Dr. Who!! I've seen three of them so far and I like it better and better as I become used to the characters. It has that element of humor mixed in with scariness (but not TOO much scariness) that I enjoy so much (hence my enjoyment of X-Files). And the special effects are waaaay better! ;) The only difficulty with the new Dr. Who is the main characters have strong working-class English accents. You have to turn it up and listen closely to catch what they're saying. (When Dad & I watch it's usually a repetition of him saying, "What did he/she say?" and my telling him. You probably wouldn't enjoy watching with us. ;) What an old married couple we've become!)
