LOST: Three Minutes

I was once again shocked to learn how little time has actually transpired since they have been on the island! Michael was only missing for two weeks? Does each episode equal "one day"? After two seasons of watching the show, we're beginning to feel fairly confident that we "know" the characters. But when you understand how little time has actually passed since the crash...then you realize that your assumptions could easily be erroneous. It also gives me a better understanding of why Jack is fighting becoming attached to Kate...he may be waiting to know her better. (Although it was interesting that he made NO effort to correct Sawyer's assumptions!)...

The writers have provided us with some complex characters. You have people, like Sawyer, who is less than savory the majority of the time, yet who shows a strain of compassion and heart. Then you have people, like Charlie, who is usually a pretty good guy, yet he periodically shows an evil strain of selfishness and pettiness (e.g. not bringing Eko's belongings to the hatch).

Then there's Michael. I am convinced he is evil. As much as I love my children, I could NEVER bring myself to murder innocent bystanders - especially when there may be other avenues of accomplishing my goal! Is he really "bad" once you get beyond the surface (maybe his girlfriend saw something we haven't!) or is his personality changing under the influence of the island? I keep thinking back to Rousseau. Was she the only "good" one and the island increased the "badness" of her companions, until they killed each other or she had to kill them? Or was she the "bad one" who killed off the "good ones"? Maybe the island makes you MORE of what you really are. I keep thinking of "white-washed" sepluchres. Everyone has a face they present to the world (my psych evaluation ;), but what they are really like may take time to manifest itself. Are some of the people becoming "better" and others becoming "worse" as time goes by?

Quick thoughts:
Where is Locke headed off to? Eko seems a little TOO focused. Sawyer really LIKES Jack? Claire and Charlie are going to reunite? Why do The Others want those particular 4 people? Are they the "good people"? Are they the "bad people"? Or do they just have info about Walt The Others need? [Walt didn't seem to be too fond of The Others!] And what do you want to bet there's a person near death or dead on that boat?

I thought the one day/ episode thing was pretty clear from the begining.

I was so glad Sayid finally picked up on Michael being weird- and yes I think the 5 they want are probably the "good" ones. I also think it is weird that Michael is just doing this as a father (who barely knows his son)- maybe they injected him and he is turning into an other an he doesn't know it yet.

The vaccine that Charlie gave Claire makes me nervous- I don't think it is a vaccine, I think it puts them on the program and makes them into an other.

I did appreciate the amount of camera time Aarron got :)

Sawyer reminds me of those highly annoying 7 yr old boys who are difficult when in a large group, but then you start taking interest in them and work with them one-on-one and they turn out to be good kids.

I like your theory about the island bringing out people's personalities- for better or worse.

I ran into someone today who thinks that they are all hooked up to a "virtual" game and they are all interacting with one another...Not sure if I am buying that one! There were no flashbacks this week...other than back a few days. I am glad that they remind us that it is only a few weeks that they have been there. I need to be reminded of that, b/c I was thinking they have been there for almost 2 years! :)

Alex is good, and she doesn't like hurting them, you can tell she has a heart. But I seem to think that Rousseau must have something to do with them, why else would Alex be so calm and nice? AND remember I thought it was a guy who brought Kate out of the woods that night? HA..I was right! (but,he did call her)

Miss Gettaclue, or um, miss clue, what was up with her? nice/not so nice, couldn't quite get who she is or what she is! What testing is Walt doing? what other room are they going to take him to? and as far as Michael is concerned he really does believe that they live that way and that they look that way too. BUT, Kate knows better!

Where is Henry? Is he going to show up again? Is he going to be killed by "him" and who is "he"?

I don't think that Charlie is really mad or acting selfishly I think he is trying to prove a point to Eko, "we were doing something together and then you ditch me wanna see how it feels?" sorta atitude! Eko had great plans for them and then he decides without telling him that he isn't doing it anymore. I don't blame Charlie.

AND...the computer ha, he wasn't communicating with Walt!! but I guess we all knew that one! Didn't we all say it was a trap? guess it was, what will Eko do when he reads the log book and sees that Michael was talking to "him"?

OK, that is enough for now! Where are all the people that used to visit and write their thougts and theroies on this? guess they have left us! too bad!

Leah and I watched it yesterday after church. I don't think its necessarily the island bringing out the real personality. I think you put anyone in this situation and that's what happens. They come together as a group, but once it appears to be safe, they let their guard down and become more of themselves.

Was that boat the boat Michael was asking for? I don't think it was. It seemed too new and it wouldn't do Michael much good there.

About the scenes from next week: We watched it in slow-mo and we saw Desmond! He was carrying a gun. Then we saw Kate passed out being lifted off the ground. And there was this pile of tube like looking things that appeared behind Jack. We're thinking of trying to get home in time to watch it live instead of watching it on tape. Although then we won't be able to rewind and watch things in s l o w m o t i o n.

And I don't blame Charlie for not getting Eko's stuff. Charlie isn't his little servant and that's what he was being treated as. He wanted to finish the church. Remember Charlie was religious and was turning his life around and quitting the band when his brother convinced him to stay and they got signed.

Locke took off his things and got his 'faith' back. His faith that the island can heal him. I believe he's going to try to find out more about the island, like he did before. Also, next week there was a shot of him going to bust up the computer with Eko's stick and Eko was stopping him.

OK you two...where's your servanthood?! Of course you would have done what Eko asked and brought him his things! I can't believe you're saying Charlie's attitude was OK. Do we need to have a Bible study?! (I could make up one of those little personalized "Quiet Times" I used to do for B&T when they were young! ;)
