LOST Redux: Season 2 Opener

It occurred to me that if we just keep adding on to the final LOST episode post, it will be a pretty long Comment list by September! I'm sure we can find something "new" to comment on as we rewatch the Season 2 episodes over the summer. (Or, if you're my age, you will have COMPLETELY forgotten what was originally said when the episode was originally aired!)

I had not seen this episode, which explains a lot of my confusion concerning some of your comments. I did see parts of it in later flashbacks, but apparently you all didn't motivate me to start watching until a few episodes into the season.

I noticed that Jack DID prioritize treating one patient over another...something emergency room doctors have to do all the time, "triage"! Shannon's Dad was still alive when brought in, but I heard them say, "Doctor, we're loosing him.", then the flatline tone of the monitor, then an announcement concerning the time of death, while Jack was working on the girl. Obviously, she had a greater chance of survival with immediate treatment than Shannon's Dad did. And how did you like Jack with hair?
And what about the girl's lame fiancee? Boy, she lucked out losing HIM! [I still wonder WHO she was having an affair with when she was married to Jack. It's GOT to be related somehow.]

And, ah yes... Shannon...I finally figured out why SHE was the only one who ever saw Walt's "body transference"...her mind was free and uncluttered. ;)
[I know...harsh...harsh...harsh]

I caught that the "quarantine" door was featured in this first episode and again in the final season episode. Also, in this first episode Kate said, "Live together, die alone" and that was the title of the final episode. Nice tie-ins between the first and last episodes, thought I would have forgotten unless I saw the 1st episode again the week after the final one.

Interesting how Jack didn't seem at all concerned for Locke's safety at the end of this episode. He just wanted to know where Kate was and if she was OK. "You want to shoot Locke? Be my guest...where's Kate?"

Btw...I'd follow Jack over Locke any day. Isn't it interesting that in the first year Locke seemed to be such a "together", capable kind of guy, someone you could trust to lead you. And here we have him improperly anchoring a belaying rope (EVEN I would have known better than to trust that puny bush!), NOT taking the precaution of protecting his or Kate's hands with fabric, like Jack did, and then walking right into a trap. And in the final episode we had him nearly kill everyone, being absolutely adamant about no one being allowed to push the button. (What would it have mattered if someone else had chosen to do it? He'd lost his faith and was intent on keeping anyone else from demonstrating any sort of "faith" they might have.) "I was wrong." Yeah...right...

This is bad when you post and then make the first comment on it. ;) Sorry...forgot something I meant to mention. At the end of the last episode of the season, those two guys in the cold climate were speaking Portuguese, which means they are most likely to be in the Antarctic. [Not earth-shattering, I realize, but someone may not have caught that.]

It's REALLY bad when you write the first AND second comment on your own post! (I have no pride.)

Did you catch that the song Duncan played in the hatch at the beginning was by Mama Cass - another singer who has passed on. Did anyone ever hear music on an episode by a living entertainer? Maybe they were trying to show how much time had passed since the hatch had first been built and stocked. (Or maybe they were prescient about the fate of the musicians they chose albums from.)It is interesting that the Swan hatch was so much older than the Pearl hatch. (From reel-to-reel to VHS. Do you think there is a hatch with a DVD?)

um, what did we start by getting you hooked?....a little too much suspense for you? you need to watch both seasons over the summer and catch us all up on things! :)

AND...don't feel too special, we did get an invitation to Adams graduation as well! ;)

I am just opting for the wedding!

Oh, I'm sure there were lots of invitations to people at FBC, though I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Adam. (I remember all those weeks, starting the summer he finished 3rd grade up until he left for Guatemala when he was in HS, he would listen to "what I've been studying this week" when he came to sweep the warehouse...and he would actually look INTERESTED!! You gotta love that!)

Btw Jen, thanks for commenting so it doesn't look like I'm having a conversation with myself...though I'm not beneath doing that if I get excited about something! ;)
